Otorhinolaryngology
Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery is a medical and surgical specialty that deals with the diseases of the ears, nose, throat and other related structures in the head and neck region. The department was formed in 1984 and has since been a center of excellence in the field of training and research. It is a member of training institutions accredited by the Philippine Board of Otorhinolaryngology
The University of Santo Tomas Hospital Department of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery offers the following services for each subspecialty within ENT.
- Otology
- neuro-otology (including cochlear implantation), skull-base surgery and audiology (hearing and dizziness)
- Rhinopharyngology
- endoscopy and diseases of the nasal passages, oral cavity and pharynx
- Laryngology
- endoscopy and diseases of the larynx (voice and swallowing disorders)
- Bronchoesophagology
- endoscopy and diseases of the esophagus and tracheobronchial tree
- Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery
- treatment of facial fractures, trauma, congenital facial defects as well as cosmetic procedures like rhinoplasty and facelifting
- Head and Neck, Reconstructive Surgery
- Treatment of cancers in the head and neck region
Hearing and Dizziness Center / Audiology Lab |
The UST Hospital Hearing and Dizziness Center offers a wide array of diagnostic armamentarium for hearing and dizziness disorders. A newly installed videonystagmography machine combines the capabilities of both videonystagmoscopy and electronystagmography. Auditory brainstem response, audiometers and tympanometers are standard equipment in the lab.
