NIGHT OF HEROES
2nd Grand Alumni Homecoming - HEROES
"not all heroes wear capes and anyone can be a hero..."

The University of Santo Tomas Hospital Department of Medical Education and Research held the 2nd Grand Alumni Homecoming last August 8, 2019, the Feast of St Dominic. The theme for the homecoming event was “HEROES” as the different department clusters showcased performances ranging from national heroes, the Marvel and DC Superheroes, Disney heroes, the heroes of the Star Wars franchise, to our very own Pinoy superheroes.

The day kicked off with the Challenge the Legends interactive quiz show between departments, held at the BCI Auditorium. The teams were composed of senior and pioneer consultants (dubbed the “Legends” of the institutions), the department chair or representative, the chief resident, and an intern.

A Thanksgiving Mass was held in the afternoon with Chief Executive Officer Fr. Manuel Roux, O.P. as main celebrant, at the AV room of St John Paul II Building. This was followed by the Alumni Homecoming and Dinner at the JPII Hall.

Ultimately, the real essence of this year’s theme are the everyday heroes that serve the patients and the people that keep the institution running 24/7: our doctors, our nurses and aides, our technicians, our trainees, our support staff from the corporate personnel all the way to the janitors, security guards and elevator guides. The event paid tribute to people who go above and beyond the call of duty, who give beyond what was expected, and who do the right thing regardless of the consequences. Everyday there are Heroes in UST Hospital, and not all of them wear capes.

Ms. Isidora A. Lee,
Director for Finance & Administration, University of Santo Tomas Hospital was given recognition for her invaluable contributions and efforts for the efficient Financial and Administrative Management of the University of Santo Tomas Hospital. The work of Ms. Lee paved the way for the turn-around of the financial status of the Hospital and contributed much to where it is today.

The hospital thanks all who participated and contributed to the success of the 2nd Grand Alumni Homecoming. The proceeds of the event will go to the USTH Outreach and Indigency Program.

Congratulations to the winners!
