Section Of ULTRASOUND

The Ultrasound section offers a complete range of sonographic examinations and interventional procedures. The section performs over 12,000 examinations annually, covering all types of ultrasound examinations including Abdominal, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Small Parts including the breast, thyroid, scrotum and prostate gland, Vascular Duplex and Color Doppler. A large proportion of scanning is performed by highly skilled technologists who have specialized in sonographic imaging under the direct supervision of the sonologist on duty, including interventional procedures under ultrasound control as well as intraoperative and routine diagnostic scans

The section features the state-of-the-art latest technology ultrasound machines capable of producing high resolution images and utilizing the latest color Doppler techniques as well as Tissue Harmonic Imaging. It is also equipped with a portable mobile ultrasound machine that can be used for bedside examinations on patients in the ICUs, operating and recovery rooms.

The Medical Staff is composed of certified sonologists, who have distinguished themselves as prime movers and luminaries of the Ultrasound Society of the Philippines and are forefront of the continuing medical education specialists in ultrasound.

Radiology residents regularly rotate in the section as part of their training program and acquire exceptional “hands-on” experience. There is also fellowship-training program in place offered for a more in depth training on this modality.

The staffing hours are from Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. The section also caters emergency procedures of in- patients including weekends and holidays done by the on call sonologist and radiology resident on 24-hour duty.
